Some years ago I posited a question to myself”How can you remember if you haven’t understood”
But this is not entirely true.
One needs remember.
At least in this age where oral tradition is dead and calculators have been replaced by smartphones and Google and Wikipedia have answered everything curiosity can muster.
One must remember. One must have data in his working memory, readily accessible, yet organic and malleable.
As long as the data is correct and will not easily change, understanding comes easily, even if later.
Mathematics is a good candidate for such an endeavour. So are language studies.Maybe basic sciences too.
So, if you don’t understand, remind yourself.
How can you understand what you haven’t remembered?
