Being social keeps my brain at the right amount of stress to maintain an edge.
If your hard work does not get noticed by your boss, or anyone else for that matter, and the end result is hard to quantify,is it philosophically same as the tree that fell in the forest when no one was around to hear it?
Some years ago I posited a question to myself”How can you remember if you haven’t understood”
But this is not entirely true.
One needs remember.
At least in this age where oral tradition is dead and calculators have been replaced by smartphones and Google and Wikipedia have answered everything curiosity can muster.
One must remember. One must have data in his working memory, readily accessible, yet organic and malleable.
As long as the data is correct and will not easily change, understanding comes easily, even if later.
Mathematics is a good candidate for such an endeavour. So are language studies.Maybe basic sciences too.
So, if you don’t understand, remind yourself.
How can you understand what you haven’t remembered?
